Well Alan Rickman … he as always on top, it is inimitable, that is to say! Naturally, he perfectly played Sainclair, husband of Natalie. Clive Owen is very pleased, it’s great, in my opinion cope with the role of this same brother, who, after almost going crazy, chasing sister on the estates of her husband, threatening to kill him.
The relationship between a brother and sister, in a love that makes the whole movie wondering what would happen. Review: I liked the movie … really a drama, I will not say for certain that powerful, the drama in the true sense of the word. Sister’s husband suspects her in cheating. My vote is six.Actors: Alan Rickman, Clive Owen and Saskia ReevesĪlso known as: Com os Olhos Fechados,Con mis ojos cerrados,Kleise mou ta matia,L’amour tabou,Três Amores e uma Paixãoĭescription: A lonely brother and his married sister quench their burning desire in a passionate union. This film was released in Brazil on VHS by Globo Vídeo distributor. The always excellent Alan Rickman is the stereotype of the British gentleman and Clive Owen in the beginning of his career successfully completes the triangle of lovers.
The unusual triangle of love is supported by the gorgeous Saskia Reeves that has a great performance in a bold role. "Close My Eyes" is a powerful drama about the obsessive incestuous love of two siblings.
Meanwhile, Sinclair distrusts Natalie and believes she has a lover. However, Richard becomes obsessed by his sister and addicted to have sex with her. Years later, Natalie gets married to the wealthy Sinclair (Alan Rickman) and in the boredom of her marriage, she has a love affair with her brother. In England, the siblings Natalie (Saskia Reeves) and Richard (Clive Owen) every now and then are together, and Natalie usually opens her heart to her brother. You finish the film thinking 'Oh, was that it?' instead of being wowed by what you've just watched.
I spent the whole of this lengthy, slow-paced film waiting for an explosive denouement, and while there are some decent bits at the climax, it never pays off. The characters are also a mystery Reeves fails to elicit much sympathy at any point, while Owen's bullish stalker comes across as more of an obsessive villain than anything else. In fact, it's a film in which nothing much really happens, despite the dramatic potential.Ĭlive Owen and Saskia Reeves both work hard to convey sympathy as the siblings caught up in a living nightmare, but director Poliakoff shoots the whole film as a romance when in reality a more horrific approach might have worked. It should be brilliant: the central concept of the incestuous relationship should be harrowing, horrifying, devastating in equal measure, but the film never fully explores the consequences of the brother/sister pairing. Reviewed by Leofwine_draca 6 / 10 A waste of dramatic potentialĪ bit of a strange film, this one. As the guilt and intensity of the siblings increases we seem to be heading for disaster, especially when Natalie's husband Sinclair finds out. Their private intensity (& working class origins) contrast with the middle-class, inhibited, stuffy public scenes we see in the Richmond world into which Natalie has moved with her marriage. The relationship between Richard and Natalie proves dangerously obsessional. After some years of tension, Richard begins a sexual relationship with his sister Natalie, who is now married.
